2 weeks touring California (and a touch of Nevada), with a hired Ford Mustang and the Rough Guide to California for company! We generally booked ahead only on the day before, and covered 1750 miles with around 6 main stops on the way: San Diego, Los Angeles, Big Sur, Yosemite, Death Valley, Las Vegas. Our route included the Pacific Coast Highway through San Luis Obispo, the Tuolumne Meadows & Tioga Road (Yosemite), Stovepipe Wells (Death Valley), and Joshua Tree National Park.
